Helped with focus

So I got the premium subscription a couple weeks ago 'cause I kept getting sidetracked. The Focus Work sessions feature is pretty neat, honestly. It actually did help me stay on task more. Like, it tells you when you've been on social media too long, kinda gives you a nudge. The mobile app tracking also showed me how much I was just scrolling on my phone. Feeling a bit more productive now, which is cool. It was easy to get going too, no big fuss.

Always reliable time tracking

I've been using RescueTime for years now, mostly for the individual focus coaching and detailed productivity reports. My recent renewal for the annual plan was as smooth as always. The auto-tracking is still spot on, just like it was with my first subscription. It consistently helps me see where my time actually goes. No surprises, which is exactly what I want from a service like this.

Good features, minor setup issues

I decided to try RescueTime's premium automatic time tracking last month to get a better handle on my work-from-home schedule. The reporting dashboard is really insightful and the distraction blocking feature works well for me. I did run into a bit of a snag installing the browser extension on a secondary browser, took a few tries to get it to sync correctly. Customer service replied within a day to my email though, which was good. It's a solid tool, just wish the initial setup was a little more straightforward.

Worth it for the annual discount

I signed up for RescueTime's premium automatic time tracking recently. I was looking for something to monitor my work hours and saw the annual plan discount. It ended up being a pretty good deal compared to paying monthly. The timesheet automation is what sold me, saved me some headaches. It's definitely worth the price for the features it offers, especially with the savings from the annual billing. I'm getting a lot out of the weekly productivity reports.

Is there a student discount for RescueTime? I'm trying to be more productive with my studies but money's tight.

I think they do! I remember seeing something about it. Might be worth checking their site directly or sending a quick email to their support. They usually have ways to make it more affordable.

Yep, there totally is! I got one last year. You usually just need to verify your student status. Saves a good chunk, especially if you go for the annual plan.

Hey, does RescueTime offer any kind of free version, or is it just the 14-day trial and then you have to pay?

P Paula D. 1 month ago
They have a free trial, which is basically the premium features for 14 days. After that, you either pay for premium or it switches to a more limited 'Lite' version which is still free but doesn't have all the bells and whistles like distraction blocking and detailed reports. So yeah, there's a free option beyond the trial, it's just not the full experience.

Yeah, I just use the free Lite version. It's enough to get a basic idea of where my time goes, but I'm thinking of upgrading for the focus sessions. The trial gives you a good feel for what you'd miss.

Considering this vs. Toggl or Clockify. Anyone have experience with both and can say why RescueTime is better or worse for automatic tracking?

C Colin Hughes 1 month ago
I switched from Toggl to RescueTime because I kept forgetting to start/stop timers. RescueTime is way better for truly automatic tracking, it just runs in the background. Toggl is good if you want manual control, but for set-it-and-forget-it, RT wins.

I use both, actually. RescueTime for the passive tracking and overall stats, and Clockify for specific project billing. If you need super granular project-based time, Clockify might be slightly easier, but for understanding your general digital habits, RescueTime is king because you don't have to do anything.

Thinking about getting RescueTime but not sure if it's worth it. Does anyone use it for work and actually feel like it helps them focus?

J Julia Walsh 1 month ago
Honestly, it depends on how disciplined you are already. It gives you the data, but you still have to act on it. I found the reports super helpful for figuring out what I was doing too much of, and the focus sessions are good for deep work periods. There's a free trial so you can always check it out without commitment.
